The Stone Rejected By The Builders Has Become The Cornerstone

Have you ever felt overlooked or underestimated?

Psalm 118 offers a message of hope in such situations. The psalm opens with a call to give thanks for God’s enduring goodness (vv. 1-2, 4). It then uses a metaphor: the rejected stone becomes the cornerstone, a vital piece in construction (v. 22). This symbolizes how God can elevate what seems insignificant. The psalmist declares this as God’s work, a cause for wonder (v. 23). They then plead for salvation and victory, acknowledging God’s power to bring joy (vv. 25-27a).

We might feel like cast-off stones, but God can use us in unexpected ways.  His plans are greater than we can imagine.

Remember God’s favor can elevate the overlooked.

Ask Yourself

Where do I feel rejected or unappreciated?

Let Us Pray

Help me, loving God, to trust in Your plan, even when I feel like a rejected stone. Amen.
