The Lord Is Close To The Brokenhearted

In moments of despair, how do we perceive the presence of God amidst our brokenness? Psalm 34:17-18 reminds us that when the righteous cry out, GOD hears them and delivers them from all their troubles, being close to the brokenhearted and saving those crushed in spirit. Furthermore, verses 19-20 affirm that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers them from them all, guarding all their bones; not one of them will be broken. Verse 21 emphasizes that calamity will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The psalm concludes in verse 23, affirming the hope of those who trust in God, assuring them that they will not be condemned.

This psalm underscores the divine promise of God’s nearness and protection, particularly in times of distress. It reminds us that amidst life’s trials, God remains a steadfast refuge for those who seek Him.

Remember that even in our most challenging moments, God is intimately present, offering solace and strength.

Ask Yourself

How can I deepen my awareness of God’s closeness during times of brokenness and adversity?

Let Us Pray

Loving God, in moments of anguish and despair, may we find comfort in Your nearness, trusting in Your promise to be close to the brokenhearted. Amen.
