40 Tips to Make Lent Meaningful

Lent is a liturgical season that lasts 40 days (Sundays are excluded in the counting). It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the evening of Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading the Bible, we serve by giving alms, and we practice self-control through fasting.

Here are 40 meaningful and positive acts you can do to make Lent a season for reflection, self-improvement, and drawing closer to God:

  1. Start a Daily Devotional Practice: Dedicate a few minutes each day to reading scripture, meditating, and praying. Reflect on the messages and teachings in the readings and apply them to your daily life.
  2. Volunteer at a Local Charity: Offer your time and skills to help those in need. Whether it’s serving meals at a shelter or assisting with community projects, your contribution can make a difference.
